چکیده

Abstract In wet peatlands, plant growth conditions are largely determined by local soil conditions, leading to locally adapted vegetation. Despite that Carex species often the prevailing vascular in fen peatlands of temperate zone, information about how these adapt environmental is scarce. This holds true especially for below-ground traits and adaptations fen-typical nutrient level variations. To address this research gap, we investigated different geographic origins (Germany, Poland, The Netherlands) C. acutiformis rostrata relate their response varying availability. We performed a common garden experiment with controlled gradient levels, analyzed above- biomass production both from origins. related as characterized vegetation composition-derived indicator values ecological habitat conditions. While detected high above-ground phenotypic plasticity origins, our data point genotypic differences, potentially indicating adaptation: Rhizome differed significantly between values. These results towards differences clonal spread behavior depending on peatland Therefore, should be taken into account when studying ecology, key functional can differ genotypes within single

Genotypic/phenotypic patterns of HIV-1 integrase resistance to raltegravir.

OBJECTIVES To understand the dynamic viral evolution observed during failure on raltegravir-containing regimens, we studied the genotypic and phenotypic patterns of resistance to raltegravir and the residual replication capacity (rRC) of HIV-1 variants selected in vivo. METHODS Clonal genotypic analyses were performed on sequential HIV-1 integrase sequences amplified from 11 failing patients ...

Geographic variation in phenotypic plasticity in response to dissolved oxygen in an African cichlid fish.

Genetic adaptation and phenotypic plasticity are two ways in which organisms can adapt to local environmental conditions. We examined genetic and plastic variation in gill and brain size among swamp (low oxygen; hypoxic) and river (normal oxygen; normoxic) populations of an African cichlid fish, Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae. Larger gills and smaller brains should be advantageous when ...

The phenotypic plasticity of the aquatic invertebrate Caenis latipennis in response to environmental conditions in the Kheirood Kenar River, Iran

Phenotypic plasticity is the capability of an organism to change its shape in response to the environmental condition. The present study aimed to investigate the phenotypic plasticity of the aquatic invertebrate Caenis latipennis using outline analysis. Samples were collected from up- and downstream of the Kheirood Kenar River, identified to the species level and photographed using a digital ca...

Evaluation of Phenotypic and Genotypic Expression of Efflux Pumpin Clinical Isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii Resistant to Ciprofloxacin and Gentamicin

Introduction: Acinetobacter baumannii is an important bacteria because of high ability to obtain antibiotic resistance genes and creation of multi-drug resistant strains (MDR). Today, the active efflux pumps has been suggested as one of the most important mechanisms of intrinsic and acquired resistance of antibiotics in bacteria. The aim of this study was Evaluation of phenotypic and genotypic ...
